Free School Meals (FSM)
Free School Meals is not the same as Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) where the government provides funding for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
Your child may be entitled to Free School Meals (FSMs) if you receive one of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (IBJSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (IRESA)
- Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guarantee credit element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit run-on
- Universal Credit
If you are eligible for FSM, you can apply online and submit the application to your local council. If you qualify, the school will be notified by the council however, we ask you to present your letter of confirmation to school. Eligible pupils will receive free school meals and Tetherdown School will receive extra funding.
Please check with Haringey Local Authority to see whether you qualify as there are specific limits.
Moving Into Haringey from another Local Authority and in Receipt of FSM
If you are currently in receipt of FSM and are moving into Haringey from a different borough it is your responsibility to inform Haringey local authority that you are in receipt of FSM. If you have lost your proof, you will need to contact your former local authority or school who will be able to provide proof. You must send this proof to Haringey. Haringey will advise us of your entitlement when they receive your proof. Further information about applying for FSM in England is also available on the government website.
