Year 4 Leapards Welsh Harp Trip!

They enthusiastically explored micro-habitats such as ponds, the space beneath logs, and trees, in search of minibeasts.

Year 4 Leopards enjoyed a splendid day at the Welsh Harp Environmental Education Centre, engaging in outdoor scientific activities. They enthusiastically explored micro-habitats such as ponds, the space beneath logs, and trees, in search of minibeasts. Upon capturing some creatures, they use a classification key to identify and name them. Amongst the intriguing finds in the ponds were phantom midge larvae, commonly known as glass-worms due to their transparent appearance, water boatmen, aquatic insects distinguished by their powerful oar-like, hairy hind legs. The children were all careful and respectful of the animals they closely observed, subsequently returning them safely to their habitats.

We would like to thank the parent volunteers for their hard work and support!
