Year 1 Dragonflies Singing Mermaid Assembly!

Dragonflies performed their class assembly inspired by Julia Donaldson’s The Singing Mermaid. They retold the story of the Mermaid’s daring escape from the circus.  They worked hard, learning all their lines and practising their songs, and we are all proud of the dedication and confidence they showed performing on stage for the whole school and their adults. They loved dressing up as their characters and having the opportunity to perform.

They also shared some of their newspaper reports that they had written about the story. We are so proud of the hard work that Dragonflies have put into their writing, including writing eye-catching and exciting headlines. The children spent several weeks learning about the features of newspapers, planning their reports and then, finally, writing them. We are very proud of their hard work and their fantastic, detailed reports.
