What Makes Britain and Our Queen Great?
Jubilee celebration week was a great opportunity for the whole school to learn more about what makes Britain and our Queen great. The Lower phase articles below and photos in this gallery encapsulate this perfectly!
Reception
Jubilee Week was a great opportunity for Reception to celebrate everything that we love about Britain. We joined in the dance workshop and danced our way through 7 decades. We ate scones and jam and cream in our special Afternoon tea where we also practised using our manners as if we were sitting with the Queen! We learned all about our amazing Queen and used our creative art skills to draw and decorate portraits of her which were part of our school exhibition. We also carefully looked at the colours of the Union Jack and then made our own little flags which we waved during our fantastic performance of the 60s Beatles' classic ‘Yellow Submarine’ We had a brilliant week.
Year 1
Children in Year 1 chatted about British Values. Many children said that ‘respect’ was very important because we should treat people how we would like to be treated. They also thought that everyone should be treated equally no matter where people come from. We have a very diverse population in Britain which should be valued. The children also discussed our culture, buildings and places of interest. Some of us really love eating fish and chips!
Why is Britain Great? By Arthur - Y2 Owls
I think Britain is great because of Marcus Rashford helping lots of schools. I think Britain is great because of all the different cultures. I think Britain is great because of the different people who help us like the police, doctors, teachers, bin men, paramedics and cleaners. I think Britain’s great because of our landmarks such as the River Thames which millions of people come and visit!
