Key Dates for Reception Admissions Entry 2026

• 1st September 2025 - Applications Open.
• 15th January 2026 - Application Deadline (closing date).
• 16th April 2026 - Primary National Offer day/online outcome. Online applicants will receive notification of their offer in an email. Paper applicants will be sent an offer letter or an email if one has been provided.
• 30th April 2026 - Acceptance deadline - online applicants should accept their offer online.
• 18th May 2026 - Appeals deadline.

Starting Primary School in September 2026

If you live in Haringey and your child was born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022, then you will need to apply for a Reception school place for September 2026. You must submit your application before the deadline on 15th January 2026.  Even if you want your child to start school later, you must still apply now according to the key dates for Reception Admissions. You must apply for a Reception class place for your child even if you have an older brother or sister at our school.

This is a very comprehensive booklet which contains a wealth of useful information and will take you through the process.

If your child has an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), their transfer to primary school will not be via the normal admissions procedure set out in the Haringey Primary Admissions booklet. The Haringey SEND Service will write to you and explain the procedure for applying for a primary school for your child. If you have questions about this process, contact the Statutory Assessment Team for Early Years to Year 5 (Team 1) at sendteam1@haringey.gov.uk.

Reception Offers and Acceptance – what happens next?

Online applicants will NOT receive an offer letter on 16 April 2026. Instead, applicants will receive an email notification, and you will be directed to Haringey's website to view your letter and next steps. Waiting list information and the information on your right of appeal is set out in the Haringey Primary Admissions Booklet 2026 and will be included in the email notification. In summary:

1. 16th April 2026 – Applicants will receive notification of their offer in an email.
2. 30th April 2026 - Acceptance Deadline – Applicants should accept their offer online.

Once accepted, all prospective parents will be invited to Tetherdown in the summer term prior to admission in September to an information evening. A visit to Reception class with your child will also be arranged in the summer term. Immediately before admission (in September), there will be the opportunity for home visits by Reception staff and the children will be admitted under a phased approach, usually within three weeks of the start of term.

Waiting Lists

If, no places are available at Tetherdown a waiting list is held with the Haringey Admissions team. Allocations will be made based on a space becoming available and in the strict order of the admissions criteria for community schools. The school does not manage waiting list places. This list is coordinated and allocated by Haringey Council’s Schools Admissions Team.
