School Day & Wraparound Care

School Day

Tetherdown's school day is in line with the Department for Education’s expectations for all schools to deliver a school week that has a minimum expectation of 32.5 hours per week.

Reception Children

Total hours: 32.5 hours per week

All Reception children will continue to enter and exit school using the Reception Playground (Gate C). 

  • 8:50am - start time for Reception children.

  • 3:20pm - pick up time for Reception children.

Years 1-6

Total hours: 32 hours and 55 mins per week

Children in Years 1-6 will enter and exit school using the Upper Playground.

  • 8:30am - all three gates open (upper playground gate (Gate A); office gates (Gate B) including leading into the upper playground). Parents are invited into the upper playground and are expected to supervise their child remaining behind the yellow line, furthest from the gate until the school bell rings marking the start of the day.

  • 8:50am - Bell rings marking the start of the day when children line up at their assigned letter marked on the playground adjacent to the drain grills. Teachers will come down to collect the children and take them into school.

  • 8:55am - Gates close.

  • 3:15pm - Gates open.

  • 3:20pm - Years 1 & 2 dismissal time. Children will stand nearest their assigned letter and be dismissed by the class teacher when they acknowledge you.

  • 3:30pm - Year 3 - 6 dismissal timeChildren will stand nearest their assigned letter and be dismissed by the class teacher when they acknowledge you.

  • 3:40pm - Gates close.

Playtimes and Lunchtimes

Playtimes

There is a morning playtime of 15 minutes and afternoon playtime of 10 minutes. The timings of playtimes are as follows:

  • 10:20am - 10:35am 
  • 2:20pm - 2:30pm
Lunchtimes
  • Reception: 11:50am - 1.10pm
  • Year 1: 12:00noon - 1.10pm
  • Years 2 - 6: 12:10pm - 1.10pm
