Year 3 Tectonic Plates & Art Learning

It's been a busy week for Year 3 - Tectonic Plates and Art!

This week we have been learning about tectonic plates and how they move against each other. There are 4 different movements which create different environmental results. When they push together, they form mountains, when they slide over each other they create tsunamis, when they rub together, they create earthquakes and when they pull apart, they create canyons.

We’ve also been learning about the artist Faith Ringgold in Art. We’ve been identifying patterns and textures we like from magazines and experimenting with felt tip pens and water on coffee filters to see the artistic effect. We also dipped fabric into different coloured dyes. Next week we’re going to be making a mandala using sugar paper!
