Year 2 Page

End of Key Stage Workshop for Parents / Carers March 2017

Many thanks to all who attended this afternoon to find out more about the Year 2 expectations. As we mentioned in the presentation, our focus is of course on ensuring good progress is made by all children through a well-rounded curriculum, without teaching 'to the test'. We use our teacher judgement, based on classroom learning, to inform our decisions regarding progress and whether each child is working towards, working at, or working at greater depth in relation to the Year 2 expectations for each subject. The information we are providing is intended to allow you to better understand where your child's current attainment sits within this framework and to help you to better understand the format of the End of Key Stage 1 assessments. We hope you find this useful.

Poetry writing

Year 2 children have been producing some amazing poetry this week in the run up to the Easter break.  They have begun to focus on accurate use of synonyms, similes, setting, and the senses:

Some of the children visited my office to share their work, which really cheered me up!  Isn't it great? (Headteacher)
