Superworm to the rescue!

Year 1 have been reading Julia Donaldson’s story ‘Superworm’. As part of our learning we have been undertaking many ‘wormy’ investigations! This has included discovering interesting facts about worms, writing about worms and painting pictures of worms. On Thursday we set off to Cherry Tree Woods on a worm hunt to collect worms for our own wormeries.  We have been making homes for our worms so that we can observe their behaviour and then next week will release them back in to our school garden.

It’s definitely Autumn in Year 1!

In our Science learning this week, we have been observing and discussing the changes across the seasons, including the weather and day length.

We went outside in our beautiful playground to look closely at the living environment and to observe the seasonal changes taking place. We looked for evidence to prove that Autumn is our current season and we collected colourful Autumn leaves and took photos of trees and the sky. Year 1 parents will also be pleased to know that we have been talking about the need to wear warmer clothing now that the days are getting colder!

We made a class poster to share our observations and thoughts on what we know about Autumn.
