Permanent After School Club Playworker
Required: 1st September 2017


Hours per week: 15 (term time only) 3.00 pm – 6.00pm
Scale 3: £7,106.42 – 7,513.63 per annum

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our successful team. You will need to be:
  • Caring and approachable, yet firm and fair, 
  • Committed to working with children and to providing equality of opportunity, 
  • Able to demonstrate good English, numeracy and IT skills, 
  • Well organised with high expectations, 
  • Able to carry out educational activities and work programmes whilst promoting independent learning, 
  • Able to work as part of a team ensuring the high standards of care for all of our children, 
  • Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of our children. 

The position involves supervising children and providing after school care during term time. You will be required to support the work of the After School Club Manager in developing and delivering a stimulating, child-centred play and activity programme.

You will need to be well-motivated and able to communicate effectively with children, staff and parents and committed to positively supporting children. Knowledge of first aid is an advantage.

Special Needs Assistant (SNA)
From 1st September 2017: 2 part-time positions as a full time job-share.

17.5 hours per week (8.30 am – 12.30 noon) term time only 40 weeks per year (pro rata)
17.5 hours per week (12.15 – 3.45 p.m.) term time only 40 weeks per year (pro rata)
Scale 4 Point 18 to Point 21 - £8,922 to £9849.09

You will need:
  • At least two years’ experience of working with children supporting severe speech, language, communication and global delay.
  • NVQ Level 3 (or above), or a higher-level qualification in a specific area of Special Educational Needs
  • Experience in Makaton and PECs
  • Toilet training experience
  • To be able to contribute to planning and deliver supporting strategies for a child within the classroom setting and on a 1:1 basis
  • To develop supportive relationships with the child with Special Educational Needs and with the class teacher;
  • Good organisational skills along with accurate record keeping
  • Ability to use SEN IT packages, e.g. “Widgit”, “Communication in Print”, etc. in order to produce learning resources on a regular basis
  • Good attendance and punctuality
You will be working under the direction of the SENCo and the Class Teacher. (This post is to support a statemented child. If the child leaves the school or if the statement is withdrawn by the Local Authority that issued it, then this contract will end forthwith.)
