A broad and exciting Maths Curriculum is in place and provided to all children. There is a clear structure for progression and for developing mental maths strategies in addition to the areas of number, shape and space and data handling.
We also place a strong emphasis on mathematical investigations. These activities challenge children to apply their growing mathematical knowledge to practical and problem solving situations to facilitate flexible thinking and breadth of experience.

We have put together some resources to help you support your child’s progress in mathematics. These materials explain our methods clearly so that you may support them with their home learning using the school’s consistent approach. Our Calculation Policy shows the progression in skills development across the four rules of number (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

We have also included some Maths Target booklets that have been produced by the Department for Education. The targets show some of the things children should be able to do by the end of the year and each booklet has some suggested activities for you to try at home to help consolidate the learning taking place in school.
