Welcome to the Friends of Tetherdown

We are a registered charity run by parent volunteers. Our aim is to enhance the educational experience of our children by raising additional funds for the school. With budget cuts, this is more crucial than ever.

We also strive to develop a great sense of community by hosting fun social gatherings that bring the whole school community - parents, children, and staff - together.

Last year, the Friends of Tetherdown, with the support of parents and carers, raised nearly £29,000! The money raised by the Friends of Tetherdown has funded a variety of valuable projects in the past such as:

  • 2013 – 2014: Playground development (£30,122); renewal of school computers (£15,000); gardening and landscaping (£3,320); learning resources (£1,927)
  • 2014 – 2015: Renewal of school computers (£10,000); learning resources (£1,000)
  • 2015 – 2016: Gardening and landscaping (£2,197) renewal of school computers (£2,000)
  • 2016 – 2017: Reception canopy (£18,175)
  • 2017 – 2018: Lap-tops (£7,500); projection system for the hall (£3,710); sports and playground equipment (£4,999); gardening and landscaping (£980); sound system (£629)

In addition, every year the Friends of Tetherdown now provides the school with a standing subsidy of £11,000 to support areas such as learning resources, IT, books, and school trips.

The current Friends of Tetherdown have a fundraising target of £30,000. So far, since coming aboard, we have raised nearly £12,000. We are currently raising money to fund replacement of PE mats and benches in the hall, repair of playground equipment in the Infant Playground, replacement of interactive TV screens, a scooter rack inside the main gate and much more.

The work that the Friends of Tetherdown does adds to the experience of each and every child at Tetherdown.

Key events being run by the Friends of Tetherdown this academic year include:

Quiz Night, Winter Fair, Silent Disco, Comedy Night, Amigo’s Family Magic, and the Summer Fair. Other fundraisers include Film Night and the 2nd Tetherdown Short Film Competition.

Have a look at our Events page for more details of upcoming events.
